Saturday 2023-05-13 brings…. The Eurovision Final! Having singularly failed to obtain tickets for the event itself in Liverpool, I am instead travelling with some friends to the great City of Manchester to watch on a big screen in the VIP Lounge of a bar in the city centre.
Manchester, especially the city centre, is extremely cosmopolitan and, when I can get there, by far my favourite girl-mode haunt.
This year the UK is hosting Eurovision in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine, for obvious reasons.
But it is still their event, so it is very important to recognise that – it’s even right there in the V of the Eurovision logo this year. I have my Ukrainian Flag ready and – provided Friday night’s experimentation with durability goes OK 🤞🏼- blue & yellow UV-sensitive lip gloss to match the flag.
In boy-mode I’m not creative. Or at least, the only creativity I seem to possess is with words and writing, but that doesn’t feel “artistic” to me. So I sat myself down last night to discover if there was any spark of artistic creativity loitering within me, and it seems that for girl-mode there is.
I managed to create a set of nails for Saturday incorporating the Ukrainian blue sky, the yellow sunflowers, and even a couple of Manchester Bees[1]. This must be the most artistic creation I’ve made in (several!) decades.
So… “never say never” – we all have hidden talents if only we find the space and courage to let them loose upon the poor unsuspecting world.
