Warning: narrow minded individuals will be grossly offended, so stop reading here eh?
So often it seems like prejudice against people being who they want to be is driven by fear and insecurity. Fear amongst those who feel threatened by difference. Insecurity amongst those who are scared that they might actually be different themselves and shout all the louder to disguise this.
It’s interesting that in the USA, the third most popular category of porn on pornhub is transgender porn. Yet looking at the bizarre and draconian restrictions and legislation in the “land of the free”(!) it’s clear that many consumers of such material must be secret consumers who outwardly support restrictions on those terribly scary Drag Queen shows, object to anyone not fitting strictly traditional male & female roles & dress styles, and so on.
And here we have yet another example today. In Texas, they’re too scared to let you wear clothes to work which are not “approved” for your biological gender. It’s amazing that so many snowflakes can survive somewhere so hot! Here’s the detail.
It feels like such a retrograde step from my hope expressed below.
So the very same people who whinge on endlessly about government intrusion into their lives (for example by not letting them have infinite numbers of powerful guns) and “cancel culture” are perfectly happy to intrude into the lives of those who are different from themselves and, indeed, they basically intend to “cancel” such people. The very same people who endlessly bang on about how these dangerous trans people are corrupting and “sexualising” others continue to display, as they so often do, an almost fanatical interest in the contents of their underwear – in order to check that they are “biologically gender appropriate” supposidly.
The one thing that all these scared and insecure people seem to have in common is a claim to be very religious – but only in ways which, obviously, support their narrow-minded views. To them, I offer only this: some updated Commandments since they don’t actually bother abiding by the old ones except when convenient.
It’s all very depressing and regressive.
